Crikey, how is it Monday again? This week seems to have gone very, very quickly! I've done a fair bit of shopping this week, so this is sort of a Monday Musings crossed with a haul, split into different sections. There's a lot to get through, so let's crack on!
Asos Ridley Skinny Jeans on Sale
After talking myself into trying a new style of jeans a while back, I finally took the plunge last month and bought myself some Mom jeans from Topshop. And I love them! But the problem is I feel like I'm still trying to get used to styling them in a way that doesn't make me look like either a hobo or a pregnant hippo and, in the meantime, all my pairs of trusty skinny jeans have basically fallen apart. Not so useful, huh?
I decided I should buy some more (shocking), and after reading some really great reviews of the Asos Ridley jeans I thought I'd try some out. When I found that at least HALF of the range is currently on sale I did a little happy dance and ordered 3 different pairs (one black, two blue) in 2 different sizes because I just wasn't sure how they'd fit - better safe than sorry, right? Turns out I was more suited to the smaller waist and longer leg length I'd chosen, which surprised me as a lot of the reviews I'd read seemed to suggest that they were a little snug fitting. I'd say that they fit pretty much the same as Topshop jeans, only maybe a teeny fraction bigger and with a lot more stretch than Topshop's Joni jeans, if that's any use to you.
May I just take a moment to say that these are the most comfortable, flattering, soft jeans I've ever tried in my whole life? And at sale price they're basically the same price as a pair of Primark jeans, so hashtag win! I wholeheartedly recommend them. These are the pairs I opted for, but there are loads more options if you search for them.
I really love listening to podcasts, especially when I'm travelling because then I can still look out the window rather than having my head stuck in a magazine or something, so I'm really excited this week because the second series of 'My Dad Wrote a Porno' has just started! Just in case you've missed it so far, it's horribly addictive and so funny that it'll probably make tea come out of your nose. I speak from experience. Google it, download it and get involved. Maybe just don't listen to it with your parents, or be prepared for some awkward looks.
Okay, I know it's been done to death but really, who doesn't love marble? I found this mug when I was out shopping on Saturday and popped into an awesome shop called RE in Corbridge, Northumberland. They have an entire range of bone china crockery in stock that's pretty reasonably priced (my mug was £3.50) which you can grab here and become the biggest blogger cliche in the world. But you'll be happy.
I Have a Newsletter!
Well, I've set one up, but it hasn't sent yet. But it's there, ready and waiting for you lovely lot if you'd like to subscribe! No spam, I promise - it's currently only set to send once a week if I've added new posts since the last one. I'd LOVE it if you signed up!!
The lovely Kirsty from XOXOKIKI was an absolute superstar and included my last post in her 'Blog Posts I Loved This Week' feature, all about self-love. Her blog is fab, and the other posts included in her list have been some of my top reads over the past week too! Hop on over and give her some love for being a total babe!
Topshop Sale Makeup
I may be boring, but the only blusher I ever use is Topshop Cream Blush. It's so quick and simple to use, gives a really nice natural pop of colour and you can easily layer it up to get a more intense look if you want to. And there's a mirror in the lid. I found three different shades (Flush, Afternoon Tea and Head Over Heels) on sale for £3 each last week, so I bought them all. Obviously. Girl gotta have different shades to suit her mood, no?
Unfortunately it looks like they're sold out online now - boo! - but you might still be lucky and spot some hiding somewhere in store. If not, there are two new shades (Illicit and Dalliance) on the Toppers website that look totally dreamy.
Oh my dear sweet Lord, I have never loved any notebook/diary/journal as much as I love this in my entire life. It's been a bit of trial and error so far, and I've made some fairly hideous mistakes but I feel like I'm gradually learning to be okay with that... or at least less heartbroken. I completely messed up the first page when I started so, I shan't lie, I tore it out, but since then it's been going much better.
I think the tricky thing with bullet journals is that there are so many different ideas of how to use it and images of perfect ones online that it can be really easy to get a bit down on yourself if yours looks, well, 'lived in.' But that's what makes it yours. SO. You will be getting a post very soon all about my bullet journal and how to make it work if, like me, you don't have perfect handwriting and insane artistic skills. Keep 'em peeled!
And there we go! I know it was a bit shopping-heavy but hey, every so often you've gotta treat yourself, right? Hope you liked it anyway, let me know what you've been up to and if you've been buying any nice things? Loves x
