I've been SO bad at keeping up with blogging and social media and I'm sorry for basically being a big failure at life, but I'm throwing myself back in here and hoping, praying that you'll forgive me! Yesterday I was tagged by the lovely Alisha Ockenden to fill in a little question post, so here goes...
What is your middle name?
Jane, so my first name and middle name are incredibly popular (or common, I tend to say) for my age. Rebecca was actually the most popular girl baby name in the UK the year I was born. Excellent.
What was favourite subject at school?
Seeing as I'm now a professional musician, and studied music at university, you'd probably expect me to say music but nah. Looking back (and man does that feel a long time ago now) I'd say English Lit all the way!
What is your favourite drink?
My non-alcoholic fave is absolutely hands-down Strawberry Ribena. Not the sugar-free stuff, mind cos it's fairly awful, but the sugary one that rots your teeth is basically manna from heaven. Alcohol-wise, I'd have to say a nice red wine, like a Rioja or a Malbec. I just came back to my parents' house yesterday for the first time in six months and my dad and I sank an entire bottle of Rioja with dinner to celebrate (my mum doesn't drink). Not even slightly sorry.
What is your favourite song at the moment?
Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing." If you watch Scandal you might recognise it as the song Olivia Pope likes to dance around her apartment to whilst drinking a vat of wine. So catchy, so good, and so uplifting when you're having a bit of a rubbish day. Get on it here.
What is your favourite food?
Oooooh so difficult! I love eating, it's one of my absolute all-time favourite things to do. I'd probably have to say that a Chinese takeaway in pyjamas is the ultimate, but I don't eat it all the time!
What is the last thing you bought?
Aside from travel snacks (hello entire day of coaches and trains yesterday), a bouquet of flowers for my boyfriend's parents on Sunday. They've been putting me up for the last couple of weeks while we did our house-hunting thing, so I wanted to buy something to say thank you.
Favourite book of all time?
I've stolen my favourite book from my mum. It's by the Danish author Peter Høeg and it's called "Miss Smilla's Feeling For Snow" and is probably the most wonderful thing I've ever read. Especially good for the winter months because, as the title suggests, there's quite a lot of snow going on, but it's also just so beautifully written and has a really amazing story. It's available for Kindle here.
Do you have any pets?
Sadly no, and my boyfriend is allergic to dogs so I'm probably fairly screwed there.
YSL Black Opium is incredible, I'm obsessed with it! Mine's running out now, though, so I'm using a little New Look one to tide me over until I can afford a new one!
I haven't actually been on a real holiday for 9 years now, which is fairly upsetting! But I do travel a lot for work and have some exploring time so the most amazing one from recent times would be my couple of days in New Orleans. The best family holiday I ever went on was probably when I went to Scotland with my mum, dad and bro when I was about 9 to go along the Caledonian Canal on a boat. My brother and I dipped our toes in Loch Ness to see if we could tempt Nessie out and sat on the front of the boat singing songs.
Are you married?
No, but hopefully one day!
Have you ever been out of the country?
Yup, all the time, but I'm having my holiday at home for a couple of months and it's so nice to be back in the UK for a change! If only the rain would stop...
Do you speak any other language?
Nope, because I thought it was a genius idea to take Latin GCSE instead of a modern language. I did love Latin, mind, but I wish I could speak more French now.
How many siblings do you have?
One brother who's 9 years older than me and is a real grown-up with a family and a mortgage and a serious job. It would be scary, but he's still essentially a child so I don't feel too bad.
What is your favourite shop?
Probably H&M, because they have so much stuff in there. Good basics, fashionable shoes and accessories, their line of gym clothes is pretty good and there are nice dresses. Done. Plus their home section is very exciting, and the makeup is actually not bad quality, especially the nail varnishes.
I'd probably have to say Pizza Express. Very tasty, and you 100% never have to pay full price because there's ALWAYS a voucher.
When was the last time you cried?
On Saturday, like a child. Trying to buy a house is stressful!
There are soooo many amazing blogs out there that it's really tricky to choose! I actually did a post the other week of some current faves, including the lovely Alisha Ockenden who tagged me for this post. My absolute favourite, though, would have to be Hannah Gale, because I read her blog religiously and she's the person who inspired me to start up my own blog!
Probably The Sound of Music. I still want to be Liesl and wear the pink dress dancing around the gazebo.
Favourite TV show?
I'm currently binge-watching Season 6 of Game of Thrones, so that right now, but Friends will probably always be my favourite ever.
PC or Mac?
Mac! I'm obsessed. I made the jump over about 3 years ago and I love, love, LOVE.
What phone do you have?
An iPhone 6, because clearly I'm an Apple whore.
How tall are you?
5'10'' which is okay, but if I could choose I'd probably prefer to be about 5'8''. Maybe when I get older I'll shrink a bit.
Can you cook?
Last time I tried I could! Err, I can if you give me a recipe but otherwise I don't really know what I'm doing, to be totally honest. It's actually listed here as one of the many reasons I'm terrible at being a girl!
So there you go! Hopefully some of that was interesting. I'm tagging Effi at Sparkleberry, Bethany at Adventure & Anxiety, Jamie at Jamie T Smyth, Tina at Tea is for Tina and Sare from Oh It's Sare - I hope none of you have already done it and I've missed it!
If anybody else has already done this tag, whack me a link in the comments or on Twitter, I'd love to read more! Plus, if you just fancy tagging yourself and getting on with it DO THAT and tell me about it. Loves x
