I swear, if every weekend could be three days long I would be a much happier, more balanced person! Doesn't it feel like this should just be normal? I was planning on spending today sitting in the sun and drinking a glass (*ahem* bottle) of wine but it doesn't seem like that was meant to be. Apparently you only get one sunny day per bank holiday weekend. And I've done my usual trick of not being organised enough to actually write this post in advance, so here I am again with an overheating laptop on my knee mainlining coffee like there's no tomorrow.
One day. One day I will learn and become organised. I can practically hear everyone who's ever met me laughing as they read that, but a girl can live in hope!
I've had a bit of a crazy week, so there's a proper mixture of stuff coming your way today - don't be scared, we'll make it through together. And seeing as I was a failure at life last week and didn't manage to get a Monday Musings out to you, you're getting a whole fortnight's worth of stuff here. You're welcome!
1. Other People's Houses
One of the things I always thought I would love most about buying my own house was the opportunity to have a good old nosey around other people's houses with good reason. I'm that person that goes to somebody's house and wants to know exactly what they're keeping in that cupboard, or why the door to the "second bedroom" is always closed... and because I'm not crazy and totally devoid of social standards and expectations, I don't look.
Oh my LORD.
I sort of wish I could go back in time and just accept that some people are weird and you really don't want to open all their drawers. Don't get me wrong, if you're really into a house you should definitely be having a good poke around before you commit to making an offer, but if you're not seriously considering it it's probably best left at that. If you didn't love the house before you opened that door, what are the odds you'll find anything that makes a difference? Fairly slim, I'd venture.
I'd dearly love to show you some photos of things I've seen, but I think I'd probably be opening myself up to a fairly nasty lawsuit. Better left well alone.
2. Primark Black Trainers
Because I'm a total dunce, I went off on our house hunting trip with a huge suitcase jam-packed with pretty much everything you could ever want. I used about 5 things apart from clothes, and even then I could have easily made do with one pair of comfy shoes and three different outfits. No word of a lie, I packed a bikini, just in case I went swimming. And my entire gym kit. And most of the makeup I own. I barely used a single thing I brought with me.
Stupidly, I didn't pack comfy everyday shoes that are WEATHERPROOF, so on our second day I popped into Primark and picked up these little beauties for £6.
Granted, they're not the most stylish footwear in the world and they probably won't win you any fashionista points, but they do the job. Sort of like the trainer version of Ronseal. I have honestly walked about 70 miles in them, and they're perfect. No soggy feet when it rains, no blisters, no falling apart. Job done.
Oh hi, I'm Rebecca and I'm a huge blogging cliché, nice to meet you! But I love me some blossoms, they're so pretty and they make me think happy thoughts when I get all stressy and weird. Imagine having that tree in front of your house, and it being the first thing you saw every day when you looked out the window! Amazing.
4. 642 Tiny Things To Write About
I LIKE WRITING! You might have gathered that by now. But sometimes it can get a bit tricky and err what do I write about? I picked this little cutie up from Waterstones the other day for £6.99, but you can probably find it somewhere online for cheaper if you like. So much fun! And, even better, it's only the size of a pen so you can stuff it in your teeny tiny handbag. Love.
5. New Look Perfume
Confession - I'm normally a horrible perfume snob. It's one of those things that I really do think you sort of get what you pay for because cheap ones only ever seem to last about five minutes. But these New Look ones are babin'.
I normally wear either Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, Lancôme La Vie Est Belle, Armani Si or YSL Black Opium (okay, I have a problem) but they're pricey and quite big to carry around when you're trying not to die dragging a humongous suitcase! This little hun comes in a 10ml spray version that you can pop in your purse or bag and it only costs £2.99! Plus, it actually lasts pretty well. There are four different kinds, but I went for Pure Dusk Purple as it seems closest to the scents I normally use. Get yours here and get involved!
And that's all for today folks! Thanks for stopping by, I'd love to hear what you've been musing on this week so pop me a little comment below and make my day :) also, I'm practically living on social media at the moment, so gimme a shout over there!
Hope you've all had corking Bank Holiday Weekends xx
