Okay, first things first - I had a little unplanned break from writing to you (sorry about that) because, to be honest, real life just got in the way. Funny how it always does that, just when you’re on a roll. I was working hard, trying to get all my exercise done ready for going to the Caribbean, spending time with friends and the fella, partying a bit and having a great time. Then it all went a bit wrong. I had a hard couple of days, you know those ones where you start to doubt everything and begin to think you’re failing at life? Yeah, those. Whoops. But I’m back, and to be honest, I think I feel better than I did before. Sometimes I find that I need to have a couple of ‘meh’ days just to make me appreciate how good life usually is, so it’s all swings and roundabouts!
I was in Madeira the other day, and I LOVE Madeira. It’s so pretty! They have loads of shops, great restaurants and there’s a cable car that you can take right up the hill to the top of the city and then you can ‘toboggan’ back down. It’s pretty amazing, though I must admit when I did it I was absolutely petrified. You basically career down a really steep hill on a sort of cart with runners, and a guy at the front with rubber-soled shoes steers you. On the road. With cars coming at you that you have to dodge around. Worth doing once fo sho, but I wouldn’t have lunch first!
Anyway, over the weekend there was a flower festival on - it’s running until the 17th, so if you find yourself in Madeira this week you can’t really miss it as it’s on the main street. So many pretty flowers! I had a wander around and took about a million photos, but it was jam-packed so people kept getting in my shot. Not happy times.

After that I (predictably) found myself in H&M. I snapped up this dress for €12 - bargain - and it was fate as it was the last one in the store. It’s pretty snug around the curves, but nothing that can’t be smoothed with some big pants. Then I couldn’t help myself but buy another bikini cos a girl gotta have options. It’s a sort of deep red crochet thing, and it’s quite a substantial push-up. Probably better for some beach posing than, y’know, diving. Find the top here and the bottoms here.

I also, perhaps stupidly, bought a scarf. I know, it’s April, and yes I’m going to the Caribbean, but €7 on sale and sooo warm. It’s basically a blanket. It’ll come in handy come winter, and I’d wanted it for ages anyway so I think it’s entirely justifiable. Probably. Haven’t got it out yet but I’ll whack up a picture of it in action when the temperature’s a bit more appropriate!
After that I met the boy and we went for lunch at a really cool, quiet restaurant. I thought about a salad and dismissed it in favour of a steak. Madeira does good steak! Then a quick walk, saw some swans, then unfortunately back to work - no rest for the wicked blah blah blah.

Hope you’ve had less of an emotional rollercoaster of a weekend than me chickadees! I’ll be back soon with something a bit more substantial - watch this space. Peace out.
