Somehow we're another month further through the year, and I'm really not sure where the time went. Life's a bit funny like that, no? We get so busy doing a million and one things that time feels like it's just flown by in a haze of to-do lists and menial tasks. So seeing as it's now officially summer, I thought I'd write you a little post that encourages you to give yourself a break. Let yourself properly enjoy the time of year and how much more great stuff you can do when the sun shines for that little bit longer each day. For you, it might be taking a break from being super-healthy, going to the gym religiously or a time-consuming hobby. Maybe it's keeping your blog on schedule, like me. Treat them all the same. It's that thing you love doing, but the one that sometimes keeps you awake a little later at night than you'd choose.Read More
Life is one huge roller coaster of ups and downs, isn't it? One minute we're on top of the world, then the next we're suddenly so bummed out that all we want to do is curl up in a ball and sob like a newborn baby. Even if we know that, all things considered, our lives are pretty darn amazing it's so easy to start fixating on our flaws, things we need to do better, the horrible things other people sometimes say. One mean word can ruin an entire day.
But it really doesn't have to. Seriously. Most days, being miserable is a choice we make. That might sound awful, but think of it the other way around - you are in charge of your own happiness. Maybe someone was mean to you, and that's crappy, but most of the time you can choose to completely disregard it and not let it get you down. And that's an amazing thing. The realisation that we're in the driving seat for our emotional state is so freeing.Read More
In case you haven't noticed yet, I'm quite the fan of a list. I have a list for everything. Favourite books, movies, TV shows I've watched, shopping, wish-lists, present lists, packing lists - I've done them all many, many times. Sometimes I even get so carried away that I write a master list of all the other lists I want to write. Some of you might consider that a bit OCD, I like to think of it as quirky.
But heck, let's be honest, I'm so addicted to list-making that I'm writing a list post about the joys of making lists. And I know I'm not alone.Read More
Happy Friday one and all! Seeing as it's nearly the weekend I thought I'd dive in a little early and try to perk you up with a list of some of the things that make me happy. I saw this tag on the lovely Steph's blog (Steph's World) and just had to jump in and do it because we all know how much I love a list!
I wanted this to be a really authentic, first-thing-that-came-to-mind type list rather than something I spent too long editing, so if you happen to be a psychologist you can probably tell quite a lot about what's going on in my little brain. If it's not good, just keep it to yourself, right? Ta. Here's what I came up with!Read More
On Sunday my mum and I had a bit of a girly day out and went to visit The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle to see the 'Shoes: Pleasure and Pain' exhibition that's currently on. It was organised by the V&A and shown there last year, and has stopped off in the good old North East for a while before going on an international tour. Sort of like BeyoncéRead More
